If you’re looking at digital marketing courses to buy, it can feel like stepping into a minefield.
You’ll see:
👉 I made £10K in 30 days!
👉 Quit your 9-5 forever!
👉 Income while you sleep!
It’s enough to make anyone sceptical. And honestly? You should be.
Because while digital marketing absolutely can open up incredible income opportunities (I’m proof of that), not every course out there is going to help you do it in a way that feels real, sustainable and right for you.
When I first bought a digital marketing course, I didn’t know any of this. I bought on impulse. Luckily, it turned out to be a great decision — but that was more luck than strategy.
Six months on, I’ve learned a lot. And today I want to help you make a more informed choice than I did.
Here are 10 essential questions to ask before you spend a penny on any digital marketing courses — especially if you’re starting from scratch like I was.

Why You NEED to Ask Questions First
It’s tempting to think a course will magically give you the business of your dreams. But here’s the truth:
👉 Some courses will genuinely teach you long-term, transferable skills.
👉 Others will simply teach you how to resell the same course — with no real brand or business of your own.
And when you’re starting out, it can be very hard to tell the difference.
These questions are here to help you spot the courses that will actually give you value — and avoid the ones that will leave you stuck, frustrated, or worse, feeling like it was all a scam.
1️⃣ Do digital marketing courses teach real skills — or just tactics?
This is the first thing I’d check now.
👉 Are you going to learn how to build your own brand and audience?
👉 Are you learning transferable skills — things you can take into other niches or apply to other products?
Or…
👉 Are you just learning how to resell that exact same course?
If it’s the latter — I’d walk away. You deserve more than a one-product business.

2️⃣ Is there a clear path to earning — or just hype?
Good digital marketing courses will give you a step-by-step path to get from:
👉 learning →
👉 taking action →
👉 seeing results →
👉 building income
If all you see on the sales page is bold claims with no clear path — be cautious.
I want to know exactly how I’m going to learn and apply the content — not just read about freedom lifestyles.
3️⃣ Is it updated regularly?
The digital world moves fast. What worked 3 years ago might not work today.
Good digital marketing courses are :
✅ updated frequently
✅ taught by someone actively working in this space
✅ relevant to what’s happening now, not 2020
Look for update notes, active communities and fresh testimonials.
4️⃣ Who is actually teaching it?
This matters more than you might think.
👉 Is the creator visible, active and engaged?
👉 Do they run a real business — or do they only sell courses?
👉 Are they sharing their process openly — or hiding behind polished sales pages?
I want to learn from someone who is genuinely building a business — not someone who’s just very good at marketing courses.

5️⃣ Is there genuine community + support?
This has been one of the biggest factors in my own success.
Without community and support, you’ll likely feel isolated and lost.
With it? You’ll be motivated, inspired and able to get questions answered fast.
Look for:
✅ active community groups
✅ engaged members (not just “rah rah” posts)
✅ regular interaction with mentors
If a course just throws you into a passive content portal with no support — that’s a red flag.
6️⃣ Are real people seeing results?
I’m not talking about the one person who made £100K and is now paraded on the sales page.
I want to see:
👉 real, everyday people getting results
👉 consistent, small wins being shared (that’s a good sign of quality teaching)
👉 progress posts from people like you — beginners, midlife women, carers, busy people juggling life
If the only testimonials are from polished influencers — beware.
7️⃣ Does it give you tools and templates — or just pep talks?
Mindset is important — but I didn’t pay for a mindset course.
I paid to learn how to build an income stream.
That means I want:
✅ templates
✅ frameworks
✅ content prompts
✅ swipe files
✅ strategy guides
If a course is mostly pep talks and no practical tools — it’s not going to help you implement.
8️⃣ Will this digital marketing course teach me how to build my own brand?
This one is huge.
👉 Will you come away from the course with a brand that is yours — one you can take in any direction you choose?
Or…
👉 Will you be stuck promoting one thing forever?
You want to be building an audience around YOU and your values — not someone else’s program.
9️⃣ Is the pricing transparent?
I’ve seen digital marketing courses that hide the real cost behind multiple upsells.
Good courses are transparent:
✅ You know exactly what’s included for your money
✅ You’re not suddenly asked to pay an extra £2K for ‘secret inner circles’ once you’re in
✅ Any advanced options are clearly shown from the start
Transparency builds trust. Lack of it should make you pause.
10️⃣ Is this digital marketing course right for me — right now?
Finally — an honest question for yourself:
👉 Do you have the time to take this course now?
👉 Will it fit the kind of business you want to build (quiet, sustainable, not hype-driven)?
👉 Does it suit your personality and life stage?
Not every course is right for everyone — and that’s okay.
Choose something that will help you build a business you actually want to run.

Final Thoughts
Digital marketing courses can be a brilliant investment. The right course can teach you skills you’ll use for years — and open doors you didn’t even know existed.
But not all courses are created equal.
👉 Ask these questions.
👉 Do your research.
👉 Trust your gut.
And remember — you don’t need to have it all figured out before you start.
You just need a place to begin.
